Research Projects

Complex Ecology of Vaginal Flora - Lack of a detailed understanding of the complex ecology of vaginal flora is one of the major obstacles constraining progress toward a better concept of bacterial vaginosis. We are using molecular analyses to describe the complexity and diversity of vaginal bacterial flora.

Microbial Ecology of Algal Mat Communities in an Acidic Stream - The ecology of algae in thermal acidic environments is not well described. We are using molecular sequence analysis of 18S rRNA genes to better understand the predominate flora in these system.
